Paradise In The Middle Of Nowhere

Not so long ago we were invited by a friend to come and see his new house in a small Berber village at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains. From Marrakech it lies about 55 km to the South but from our home in the Ourika Valley (and with the not so precise route description from our friend) it is a lovely but very bumpy, three-hour drive. The journey to his house led us over sandy paths, through the narrow streets of small and remote Berber villages and passed many colourful Boucherouite carpets hanging out to dry along river banks.

In a tiny village, somewhere in the middle of nowhere, our friend has found a little piece of paradise and this lovely, charmingly odd house!

  5. I love this little house…..I dream of having a home there too. What about water and electricity…did your friend have to get all that connected somehow?
