Not so long ago we
were invited by a friend to come and see his new house in a small Berber
village at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains. From Marrakech it lies about
55 km to the South but from our home in the Ourika Valley (and with the not so precise route description
from our friend) it is a lovely but very bumpy, three-hour drive. The journey
to his house led us over sandy paths, through the narrow streets of small and
remote Berber villages and passed many colourful Boucherouite carpets hanging
out to dry along river banks.
In a tiny village,
somewhere in the middle of nowhere, our friend has found a little piece of
paradise and this lovely, charmingly odd house!
Wow, looks beautiful. I have been dreaming about coming to Morocco for such a long time :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Buddy. I have also enjoyed your blog and will continue to check in to read your posts.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely spot to have your own little hide-away. We were traveling the area last month and fell in love with the beauty!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see a new blog post! I love visiting your site and admiring all your rugs...my partner thinks I'm crazy to dream of owning one, but I will be able to make it happen one day!
ReplyDeleteHi Ellen, Thank you for leaving a comment! Dreams are wonderful, they are what make beautiful things happen!
DeleteI love this little house…..I dream of having a home there too. What about water and electricity…did your friend have to get all that connected somehow?
ReplyDeleteHello Elizabeth, thanks for visiting my blog! I can tell you that this little house is truly lovely! It has water from its own well and is connected to electricity.
DeleteSuch a beautiful, serene looking home. Wish we could see the inside.
ReplyDeleteHi Ellen, thanks for leaving a comment! Next time I visit I'll take some pics of the inside which is just as lovely!
