Far beyond Marrakech, across the High Atlas Mountains lies the beautiful south. It is where I fell in love with Morocco and it remains by far my favourite part of the country. I didn’t get to live there (yet) for various practical reasons and I don’t visit as much as I would like, but I have lots of pretty little reminders all around the house.
The green-glazed ceramic pottery of Tamegroute in my kitchen and the huge Zagora pots in the garden. And something very, very pretty, something that makes me smile each time I see them. Something I buy every time I travel south. The beautiful black veils of the southern Berber women.
Danielle, I can actually post now! Yipee....small steps for a cave-dweller like me.
ReplyDeleteLove these black-beauties, can totally see myself doing the 'dance of the seven veils' with them! Want one, actually want two. I also love the little princess flitting between the veils!!!
Back soon for more Moroccan delights

I'll have to find you two black veils next time I travel south! Sure you'll blend them in beautifully in your Indian palace! Now you've met the little princess will mail you a nicely photoshopped pic of moi soon (don't worry, just kidding).
ReplyDeleteSorry this is anonymous, I am a blog dummy. Is your Dar Zohra open for business? We are traveling to Morocco soon and trying to plan ahead for a day trip into your neck of the woods. I can't seem to find your archived posts to make for certain. p.s. your blog is lovely, I have only just discovered it!
